Intake and Free Consultations
When finding a birth or postpartum doula, having a natural connection between client & doula is integral to feeling comfortable in these intimate moments. For this, we have streamlined the consultation process and ask that all clients complete either The Birth Doula Intake Form or The Night Nanny Questionnaire before booking their free 45 minute 1:1 with their doula.
Contracts
Before any in-person support begins, we require two contracts to be signed by the client and the doula:
Services and Policies Agreement + Privacy, Illness & Cancellations
Pricing and Payment Contract
The service and policies/procedures agreement will confirm the expectations of the client and the doula’s understanding of those expectations. It is up to the discretion of the doula if they would like to provide any additional support services that are not included in the signed agreement, however, compensation for those efforts are not required.
The Pricing and Payment Contract provides the hourly rate and tentative schedule for support, including a payment schedule if the client is unable to pay in full. This contract confirms the client’s financial obligation and secures the time in the doula’s schedule. Once signed by both parties, we require a deposit equal to 25% of the final service cost.
General Procedures
Please allow 48 hours for confirmation before resubmitting any forms or files.
All infant care routines must be determined before the first day of service. While we are open to adapting to the needs of your family and infant, please ensure that all basic materials required for safe sleep and feeding is correctly installed and available during all shifts. Please see “What to Expect: Night Nanny” for more information on overnight service requirements.
PAYMENTS and Sliding Scale
All payments must be made before the time of service unless otherwise noted.
If booking over 35 hours of support within a 7 day period, an ADDITIONAL hourly rate must be agreed upon in the contract.
We offer discounted packages for short-term BIRTH contracts and REOCCURRING night nanny shifts only.
To qualify for sliding scale pricing, the clients must show proof of receiving SNAP, WIC or other financial government aid. For BIPOC and LQBTQIA+ families, please reach out to Sydni@laborofchoice.com with your situation and rates will be determined on a case by case basis.
